What is a holistic approach to health?
Holistic health is informing an understanding of your wellbeing through a variety of perspectives. Whilst modern medicine has a large focus upon pharmaceutical intervention, holistic health looks at you as a whole person to understand your healthcare needs and the sustainable changes that you can make to achieve your goals. A broad description of the factors we take into consideration are:
Physical – Your body’s physiology (nutrition, movement, disease status)
Mental – How you process your environment (habits, behaviours, stress, psychology)
Emotional – how you describe and regulate your feelings (self-care)
Social – your support network (friends, family, medical professionals)
Environmental - Where you live, work, or travel.
And Spiritual – your perspective on life and motivations (religious practices or principles for life).
What is included in your Holistic Health programme?
First and foremost, your health is centred around you. This means that if you have any goals that have brought you to Holistic Health then we will build the assessment and guidance around those. If you are here for a health report and assessment, we can work with your other healthcare providers to facilitate the information to assist you in your ongoing healthcare journey. Or, if you are here to improve your understanding of yourself and your health, we can work towards a sustainable holistic health journey.
Nutritional Therapy
As Hippocrates once wrote, “in food excellent medicine can be found” and here at Holistic health we lead by this example. We will assist you in making manageable, meaningful, and sustainable changes to your diet and relationship with food to ensure your health has a solid foundation to build upon.
Mental Wellbeing Therapy
“Cogito, ergo sum” or rather “I think therefore I am”, once said by Descartes, is reflective of just how powerful an effect our mind and mental health can have on our health as a whole. Using behavioural activation, motivational interviewing, mindfulness and other strategies we aim to help incorporate a positive mental wellbeing into your lifestyle and healthcare journey.
Personal Training
Gabrielle Roth once said, “when the body surrenders to movement, the soul remembers its dance”. Holistic health aims to help you have joy in the movement throughout your lifestyle. Using resistance and cardio-vascular training to supplement your busy lifestyle, and consistent practice we will help you achieve your goals and have a healthy, happier lifestyle filled with the activities you love.
Sleep Therapy
Sleep can often be the overlooked hurdle in maintaining good health. Leonardo da Vinci once said, “A well-spent day brings happy sleep” and here at Holistic Health, we aim to improve your rest and recovery just as much as your active changes in your lifestyle. Understanding the cyclical nature of sleep and bridging the gap between daily activity, rest, and sleep will enable you to succeed in your healthcare journey.
